Throughout the year, we host a handful of special events. Some are simple gatherings, others are harvest celebrations or fundraisers for area nonprofits, and a few times per year a local band will come treat our community to a live show at the Barn at Thomas Open Space. Here are two that are coming up soon and require pre-registration.
On Sunday, June 26, from 10 to 12, come participate in the first Boulder County Mile-High Food Swap of 2016. It’s fun and easy: You bring a few of your homemade or home-grown items to swap and you go home with the same number of other people’s homemade goodies. Swaps are a great way to meet other fellow home cooks & gardeners, show off your skills and fill your pantry with excellent yumminess and diveristy. On Friday, July 22, from 6-8:30 p.m., join artist and community engager Dawn DeAno for Barns & Brews, a unique opportunity to paint your own customized 2 foot by 2 foot “barn quilt” while enjoying a cold local brew or non-alcoholic beverage compliments of Isabelle Farm!
For the past year Dawn has been spearheading the countywide public art and heritage project, Stories to Tell—Barn Quilts of Boulder County. The Project will install 20 colorful barn quilts (painted replicas of quilt blocks mounted to barns) by the end of 2017. The work of the project is already on display at Isabelle Farm and Three Leaf Farm. After a brief history of barn quilts, choose your own pattern and color scheme to suit your mood, your day, your personality — you! Learn the process and end up with a beautifully finished work of art you can hang inside or out! A $50 fee covers all materials and instruction. You bring your enthusiasm, curiosity, and three small containers for extra paint if you don’t finish your project. Preregistration is required & available at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/barns-brews-barn-quilt-making-workshop-tickets-26090271705
