Volunteer Opportunities

Saturday tomato harvest with volunteers.

One of the best ways to learn about the rewards and challenges of producing local food is to volunteer at a local farm. We appreciate the commitment it takes to volunteer and value the crucial role volunteers can play in the sustainability of our farm. It is our goal to provide an experience through which our volunteers leave the farm empowered and inspired by their participation. Our volunteer program has three main intentions:

Education: To serve as an opportunity to explore the knowledge, wisdom and skills of sustainable farming practices and to connect our community to the food they eat and the land we cultivate.

Market Harvesting: Isabelle Farm operates a 400-member CSA program, sells its produce through its farm stand, as well as to many local restaurants and markets. Through our volunteer program, we hope to support our field staff’s ability to harvest the highest quality, most nutrient-rich produce possible.

Donations Harvesting: We currently donate a great deal of produce to local community organization such as Sister Carmen, Community Food Share, There With Care, East Boulder County Meals on Wheels and Safehouse Progressive Alliance for nonviolence, among others. During the height of the season our time and energy must be focused on revenue-generating tasks, such as CSA and Wholesale harvests. Through our volunteer program, we hope to increase our capacity to harvest healthy, delicious, organic produce from our fields for our community partners.

Prior farming/gardening experience is not necessary, but willingness to work hard, show up when scheduled and work at an efficient pace are musts.

We currently have two options for volunteering with our farm:

  1. Sign up to attend one of our Open Volunteer Days. Activities depend upon seasonal needs, but can include planting and transplanting, harvesting, weeding, post-harvest production, etc. Send us an email expressing your interest, and we’ll add you to our Open Volunteer Day Distribution List, so that when we host a Volunteer Day, you can opt in or out.
  2. Group Volunteer Days: Arrange a specific date and time with us that works for a group of 8-20 individuals interested in volunteering at the farm. This setup works great for corporate groups, school groups ages 12 and older, and other groups of individuals looking for a teambuilding experience. a 2-4 hour window is optimal.

If one of our volunteer options works for you and you are interested in volunteering at Isabelle Farm, you can contact Natalie Condon at info@isabellefarm.com
